“Israel apparently expelled people from Gaza and sent them on chartered planes,” he said, quoted by Al Jazeera, Friday (14/11).
He also said Israel sent Gazans on charter planes without stamping their passports.
“Israel deliberately did not stamp these poor people’s passports to aggravate their suffering in a foreign country,” said Sooliman.
Meanwhile, Israeli authorities stated that the 153 Gazans who arrived in South Africa had received entry permits from third countries before the plane took off.
“[Palestinians are only allowed to leave Gaza] after COGAT (the Israeli agency that manages civil affairs in Palestine) receives approval from a third country to accept them,” said COGAT spokesperson Shimi Zuaretz on Friday, quoted by AFP.
Then the next day, another spokesman said the third country was South Africa itself.
A total of 153 Palestinians by chartered plane arrived in South Africa on Thursday (13/11).They were stuck on the plane for 12 hours because there was no departure stamp on their passport from Israel.
The South African Ministry of Home Affairs finally allowed passengers to leave the plane after Gift of the Givers promised to help and provide accommodation for them.
Last October, a chartered plane carrying 176 Palestinians also landed in Johannesburg. However, some passengers were transferred to other countries.
Responding to the incident, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said the authorities would carry out an investigation.
He revealed that intelligence agencies, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation are currently assessing the situation.
“We will carry out a proper evaluation and see what happens in the future,” said Ramaphosa.
“These are people from Gaza who were somehow mysteriously put on a plane that passed through Nairobi and arrived here,” he added.
