Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri)
Tito Karnavian
said there were two acquaintances who were businessmen who wanted to donate 125 thousand
export rejected clothes
to flood and landslide victims on the island
Sumatra
.
However, Tito explained that the donation of 125 thousand export rejected clothes must be approved by the Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa and the Minister of Trade Budi Santoso first.

“Yes, because you know him. You know him, you offer him, instead of having it piled up in the warehouse, it gets damaged,” explained Tito after the launch of the 2025-2029 Papua Development Acceleration Action Plan (RAPPP) at the Bappenas Office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).
He did not elaborate further on who the two garment entrepreneurs were.Tito only confirmed that the two businessmen knew him so they reported it to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) and offered to donate clothes for disaster victims.
According to Tito, this idea is also permitted by law.He also emphasized that the clothes that will be given to disaster victims are not used, but are new products.
“It’s still very suitable, new, not second-hand. That’s my note, it’s not second-hand, this is new. It’s just that if you want to send it to America, for example, there are their standards. Just the slightest mistake, the slightest slant, you don’t want it. The term reject, the rejects pile up. Instead of piling up, there’s a law saying that it can be used for disaster,” he said.
“But we have to get approval from the Ministry of Trade and Customs and Excise. I asked my secretary general, the Ministry of Home Affairs, to meet with these three agencies. So that as quickly as possible and immediately we will send them to Aceh, to West Sumatra, where the refugees are (including North Sumatra),” added Tito.
However, the minister cannot confirm when the joint meeting with Minister of Finance Purbaya and Minister of Trade Budi will be held.He only hopes that the meeting of the three ministries can be held as soon as possible.
Minister of Home Affairs Tito previously said that the first entrepreneur was ready to provide 100 thousand clothes, while the remaining 25 thousand clothes would come from the second entrepreneur.According to him, the disaster victims really needed clothes.
“Because we feel sorry. I’ve been down there several times, some of them need clothes. Because there are people who leave the house to save themselves with only the clothes on their bodies. So, they don’t change clothes, poor thing,” he explained.
On the other hand, Tito said that President Prabowo Subianto had given Rp. 4 billion to each regional government (Pemda) affected by the disaster.
