foreign drug cases, Lindsay June Sandiford and Shahab Shahabadi, were officially handed over to the British government on Thursday (6/11).
The repatriation process was marked by the signing of the handover minutes carried out by the Deputy for Immigration and Correctional Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Correctional Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia I Nyoman Gede Surya Mataram together with the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections for Bali Province Decky Nurmansyah, Head of the Denpasar District Prosecutor’s Office Trimo and Deputy British Ambassador to Indonesia Matthew Downing.
“This process reflects Indonesia’s commitment to just law enforcement, upholding human values,” said Surya at the Class II-A Kerobokan Penitentiary (Lapas) in Badung Regency, Bali, Thursday evening, it was reported

Lindsay and Shahab were present at the handover process.They wore white shirts, sitting in the second row of the signing table.
Lindsay covered her face with a white mask, while Shahab wore a blue mask.
After signing, the two of them left Kerobokan Prison.Lindsay uses a wheelchair and is carried by prison officers.
The two of them entered the car while being escorted at around 21.28 WITA towards I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Surya said they were scheduled to fly on Friday (7/11) at 00.30 to Doha before going to London.
Downing expressed his thanks to the Indonesian Government, especially to President Prabowo Subianto and the Indonesian Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra, as well as other agencies for the repatriation of the two citizens.
He said this repatriation was built on the principle of mutual respect for the sovereignty of the two countries.
“Both detainees have serious health problems and were repatriated to the UK on humanitarian grounds,” Downing said.
Lindsay, who is now 68 and suffers from type two diabetes mellitus and hypertension, is a drug convict who isĀ on death row.She has been detained since August 29 2013 at the Class IIA Kerobokan Women’s Prison.
Meanwhile, Shahab (35) was arrested in 2014 for carrying a package of methamphetamine narcotics weighing around 9.696 grams.He was sentenced to life imprisonment and suffered from skin disease in the subcutaneous tissue and mental disorders.
