The two EWS in the form of damaged sirens are in Sumberurip Village, Candipuro District, and Supiturang Village, Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency.
“Yes, that’s right, [two EWS devices were damaged],” said Chief Executive (Kalaksa) BPBD Lumajang, Isnugroho, Tuesday (2/11).

Head of the Lumajang BPBD Prevention and Preparedness Division, Sultan Syafaat, said that when the Semeru eruption occurred, the EWS could still function and provide warnings.
“When the EWS incident was functioning, there were no casualties because the EWS was functioning,” said Sultan.
He said that now the two EWS have been handled.Just needs reprogramming.
Apart from the EWS, there were also eight CCTV units and one remote processing unit (RPU) at the Mount Semeru monitoring post that were affected.But now it has also been handled.
“It just needs a re-system, some are still in place, and the addition of new points has been proposed to BNPB. Regarding EWS and CCTV, this is collaboration between various parties, not only from the government, NGOs too, such as UT, IOF and APJII,” he said.
“Ponkesdes and SDN 02 Supiturang (the affected EWS), even though no one will live around SDN 02, because it is part of the KRB, the community will still be active in economic activities there,” he added.
Then, said Sultan, his party also proposed installing additional new EWS in a number of locations.According to him, this is important to do to strengthen early detection and warning.
“The survey is still in process, it must be a strategic location, which can be used by many parties, the public, tourists and others,” he said.
