Jakarta Class IIA Narcotics Correctional Institution (Lapas) officers thwarted two attempts to smuggle 32.7 grams
drugs

In the first incident, search officers were suspicious of the movements of one of the visitors who wanted to visit the Inmates.

After a body search was carried out by female officers, two packets containing white crystalline powder, suspected to be methamphetamine, were found hidden in sanitary napkins.From the weighing results, the total evidence reached 9.2 grams.
Not long after, officers again found a similar method from another visitor, namely two packs of crystal methamphetamine in sanitary napkins with a total weight of 23.5 grams.
Head of the Jakarta Narcotics Prison, Syarpani, said that these two cases showed the seriousness of the prison authorities in closing all loopholes in drug smuggling efforts using various methods.He gave high appreciation to the officers.
“I give my highest appreciation to the officers who have worked carefully and responsibly. This is proof that we have never been careless in carrying out our duties to maintain security and order in prisons,” said Syarpani in a written statement, Wednesday (12/11).
Syarpani emphasized that his party would not provide even the slightest space for drug trafficking in prisons.
“We will continue to tighten inspections, both of visitors and their belongings. Prisons must be places of development, not places of drug trafficking,” he said.
Syarpani added that all the evidence along with the two visitors had been handed over to the East Jakarta Metro Police for further legal proceedings.
This incident is the 7th case throughout 2025 that has been successfully foiled by the Jakarta Narcotics Prison, as well as confirming the commitment to zero tolerance towards drugs.
