Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Taufik Hidayat, confirmed that the inauguration ceremony for athletes who will go to this year’s Southeast Asian Games is still waiting for confirmation.
Taufik confirmed that he had sent a letter to Prabowo regarding the inauguration ceremony as well as the release of Indonesian sports ambassadors at the ASEAN regional event.

The opening ceremony for the 2025 SEA Games will only take place on December 9, but there are already Indonesian athletes who have left for Thailand because of the competition agenda which starts before the initial ceremony.
Taufik admitted that not all athletes would take part in this session because there were already several events being competed and the athletes had left for Thailand.
“Yes, it’s okay if the first person leaves, it’s okay, you can’t postpone the match either, that’s the schedule for all countries,” said the figure who won men’s singles gold in badminton at the SEA Games in 1999 and 2007.
The departure of the Indonesian contingent to the SEA Games this time was shrouded in sadness due to the flood disaster that hit Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
According to data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), as of Monday (1/12) morning, the total number of missing victims reached 402 people, and there were 442 fatalities.
