“We support that the disaster in Aceh and Sumatra be made into a disaster, with the status of a national disaster. So that we can all work together in alleviating and facilitating the rebuilding of countries that have been affected by natural disasters,” said Chairman of SC Reunion 212 Ahmad Sobri Lubis in the Monas area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (2/12) evening.

During the reunion event, the crowd held magical prayers for the disaster victims.The committee also raised funds for disasters in Sumatra.
“Raising funds for our brothers and sisters who were affected by the disaster in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra. Then we also raised funds to help our brothers in Palestine and Sudan,” said Sobri.
A number of parties previously also pushed for the disaster in the three provinces to be declared a national disaster.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded that the death toll in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra had increased to 712 people as of Tuesday (2/12) afternoon.
Based on BNPB data displayed on their official website, the number of missing victims is 507 people in the three affected provinces.
Proposed National Holiday
At the same moment, the son-in-law of former FPI Grand Imam Rizieq Shihab, Muhammad bin Husein Alatas, proposed that December 2 be made the day of Indonesian Brotherhood and become a national holiday.
He, who is also the Chair of the Organizing Committee (OC) for the 212 Reunion tonight at Monas, admitted that this proposal had also been conveyed to the Deputy Minister of Religion, Father Muhammad Syafii, and the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, who were present at the 212 reunion at Monas, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (2/12) evening.
“As long as there is a Deputy Minister of Religion (Deputy Minister of Religion), as long as there is a Governor, I propose. What if 212, this big momentum event, December 2, we propose to be Indonesian Brotherhood Day. Do you agree or not?”said Hussein.The crowd present unanimously answered in the affirmative.
“So December 2 is a national holiday, don’t you agree?”he added.
According to him, by declaring it a national holiday, Muslims can gather at Monas every December 2.
“So December 2 is a holiday. God willing, whenever the day falls on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, it’s still a national holiday, we can still gather at Monas. Agree?”he said.
On the same occasion, Deputy Minister of Religion Father Muhammad Syafii admitted that he had noted the proposal and would convey it to President Prabowo.
“But I can’t answer the proposal from the OC Chairman earlier today. But at least I have noted the proposal to make it a national holiday. But whether it is possible or not, I have to convey that to President Prabowo Subianto,” said he, who is also a Gerindra politician.
