1. Accused of being a Crazy Communist
Since his first appearance, Zohran Mamdani’s presence as a candidate for mayor has attracted the attention of the United States public.
He wants to cut the costs of basic necessities for New York City residents such as public transportation costs.However, Trump conveyed this hatred in a post on his social media, Truth Social, on Thursday (25/6/2025).
“Zohran Mamdani, a 100 percent crazy communist, who just won the Democratic primary and is on his way to becoming mayor,” Trump said on Truth Social on Wednesday.
He then said, “We’ve had radical left-wing politicians before, but this one has gone too far. He looks terrible, his voice is painful to listen to, and he’s not very smart.”
2. Threaten to revoke citizenship
Not only did he accuse him of being a “crazy communist,” Trump will also revoke Zohran’s citizenship.This intention was conveyed after Trump became annoyed with Zohran Mamdani and rich man Elon Musk.
Trump threatened to revoke Mamdani’s citizenship after the socialist politician refused to cooperate with a deportation operation run by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

Zohran is fathered by Mahmood Mamdani, a Ugandan-born lecturer.Meanwhile, her mother, Mira Nair, is a film director from India.

3. Threaten to cut federal funding
President Donald Trump also threatened to cut federal funding if Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor of New York.Trump even called on supporters of his party, the Republican Party, in the city to vote for former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is a Democratic politician.
“If communist candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the election for mayor of New York City, it is very unlikely that I will distribute federal funds other than the minimum amount required for the first city I love,” Trump said in his post on Truth Social as quoted by The Guardian.
“As president, I don’t want to send good money to cover bad things. I firmly believe that New York City will be a total economic and social disaster if Mamdani wins,” he explained, adding.
4. Will catch Mamdani
Donald Trump also threatened to arrest Zohran Mamdani if he prevented federal law enforcement from making immigration-related arrests in the city.
That was in response to Zohran’s acceptance speech saying if he were mayor, he would use his power to “stop masked [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] officers from deporting our neighbors.”
When asked about this, Trump said, “Okay, we have to get him.”
“A lot of people say he’s here illegally,” Trump claimed of Mamdani, who was born in Uganda and became a naturalized US citizen in 2018.
In a statement, Zohran said Trump’s threat was an attack on democracy and “an attempt to send a message to every New Yorker who refuses to hide in the shadows: If you speak out, they will come after you.”
Opinion surveys show Mamdani ahead of Cuomo.Based on the latest RealClearPolitics poll on Monday (3/11), Mamdani leads with 45.8 percent of the vote, 14.7 points ahead of Cuomo who received 31.1 percent.Meanwhile, Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa is in third place with 17.3 percent.
