“On Monday 24 November 2025 at 03.40.22 WIB the South Indian Ocean region of Java, Blitar, East Java was shaken by a tectonic earthquake,” said BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Director Daryono, in his statement, Monday (24/11).
Daryono explained that referring to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a type of shallow earthquake caused by active underwater fault activity. The results of the source mechanism analysis show that the earthquake has a strike-slip movement mechanism.
This earthquake had an impact and was felt in the Kuta, Bali area with an intensity scale of II-III MMI (the vibrations were felt clearly in the house. The vibrations were felt as if a truck was passing), the Karangkates, Nganjuk, Blitar, Tulungagung and Bantul areas with an intensity scale of II MMI (the vibrations were felt by several people, light objects hanging swaying).
“The modeling results show that this earthquake does not have the potential for a tsunami,” explained Daryono.
