Earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 rocked the Sakha region in the northeast
Russia
on Tuesday (4/11) local time.The vibrations were reported to be strong enough to be felt in several settlements around the epicenter.
According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) report, the earthquake occurred at a depth of around 12 kilometers below the ground surface.
The relatively shallow depth has raised concerns about potential damage to infrastructure in an area known to be sparsely populated.

, local authorities have deployed emergency response teams to assess the situation on the ground and ensure the safety of residents.Until now, there have been no official reports of casualties or major damage.
The government reminds residents to remain alert to the possibility of aftershocks.The Sakha region, which is located in northeastern Russia, often experiences seismic activity because of its position close to the meeting of major tectonic plates.
Even though most of the Sakha area is a remote area with a low population, authorities emphasized their readiness to face any eventuality in the event of an increase in earthquake activity.
