6 Indonesian Airlines Affected by Airbus A320 ‘Recall’

Airplane manufacturer Airbus is recalling its aircraft that are not equipped with Aileron Elevator (ELAC) software.A number of airlines from Indonesia were also affected.
At the end of last November, Airbus recalled Airbus A320 aircraft that were not yet equipped with ELAC.ELAC is a program that makes it easier for pilots to control the turns and rise and fall of the plane.The plane is also more stable when taking off and landing.

Based on the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Emergency Airworthiness directive, the withdrawal of the Airbus A320 has an impact on flight operations in Indonesia.
List of aircraft affected by the Airbus A320 ‘recall’
After coordinating with the Ministry of Transportation and air transportation providers, a total of 6 airlines in Indonesia are required to use ELAC software.
The following are airlines from Indonesia that are affected by EASA regulations.
Water Batik
Super Air Jet
Citilink Indonesia
Indonesia Airasia
Water Lamp
Transnusa
Previously, there were a total of 207 Airbus A320 aircraft spread across Indonesian airlines, with 143 aircraft in operation.
After the recall directive, 38 aircraft were affected or 26 percent of the total that normally operates on each Indonesian flight route.This recall also has an impact on the operations and availability of flight routes.
“This condition is expected to disrupt flights, due to the large number of Airbus A320 aircraft operating in Indonesian airlines and throughout the world,” said Director General of Civil Aviation, Lukman F. Laisa, quoted from

However, Indonesian airlines agree and comply with these withdrawal regulations for the safety of passengers and cabin crew.
Each of the affected aircraft is estimated to take around 3-5 days to repair.Once they are declared fit to fly again, the plane will operate again.
Lukman also called on airlines to immediately mitigate in order to reduce the impact of the recall on aircraft operations, in the hope that passengers will not be disturbed and will still receive the best service.
