The commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Transmigration Service Day, Friday (12/12), is an important momentum for national development.
On this occasion, Minister of Transmigration M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara said that Lampung, which was the first location for sending transmigrants on December 12 1950, was now planned to be the area of origin.
“This is a milestone. Lampung used to be a destination area. This year it has become an area of origin. This means that now it is no longer just a movement of people from crowded places to sparse places.”

“Now we are trying to think about how transmigration can become an engine of Indonesia’s economic growth. What will it look like? This is what we will live together,” said the Minister of Transmigration at an event at the Ministry of Transmigration office, Kalibata, South Jakarta.
Entering a new era of transformation, the direction of transmigration policy next year will be focused on 50 percent regional transformation and 50 percent revitalization.
Minister Iftitah gave the example of the transmigration program in Rempang, Batam, which created a new center of economic growth starting by designing transmigrant houses to be close together and communal.
There is no longer any distribution of business land individually, but rather in groups so that they can collaborate with investors.Apart from that, the transmigration area will be equipped with educational facilities from elementary to tertiary level, and public facilities so that infrastructure development is inclusive and sustainable.
On the same occasion, Minister Iftitah expressed his appreciation to all employees of the Ministry of Transmigration for the performance and dedication they have shown.This is reflected in the satisfactory results of the Ministry of Transmigration’s integrity assessment survey.
“Thank God, the Ministry of Transmigration’s integrity assessment survey was green, 79.8. But don’t be complacent. That is a good step and we will continue to improve. Sometimes even if we fail, don’t be discouraged. That is our room for improvement,” said the Minister of Transmigration.
