Two people with the initials DGM (37) and WR (30), were caught red-handed carrying it
76 kilograms (kg) of methamphetamine
in Asahan Regency,
North Sumatra
, last Sunday (9/11).
“They planned to take tens of kg of methamphetamine to Palembang, South Sumatra, on the orders of someone with the initials D alias B,” said Asahan Police Chief AKBP Revi Nurvelani.

“They were promised a wage of IDR 3 million per kilogram if they succeeded in delivering the illicit goods,” said Revi to journalists, Wednesday (12/11).
The two suspects were being monitored by authorities in Silo Laut District, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra on Sunday since morning.They reportedly took a silver Nissan X-Trail from Silo Baru Village towards Kisaran.
“Following up on the report, the team moved quickly to block the route,” said Revi.
Revi said the team found a vehicle with the reported characteristics at around 07.20 WIB.Officers immediately intercepted the vehicle in Bangun Sari Village.
“From the results of the search, four black tote bags containing 76 packets of “Gold Leaf” brand plastic were found which were suspected to contain crystal methamphetamine with a total weight of 76,000 grams (76 kilograms),” he said.
From investigators’ examination, one of the suspects admitted that he had succeeded in bringing 38 kg of crystal methamphetamine to Palembang with his partner on October 26 2025.
“In this case, the evidence confiscated included 76 packs of Gold Leaf brand crystal methamphetamine weighing 76,000 grams, 4 black tote bags, 1 Nissan X-Trail BK 1899 YG, 2 mobile phones (Samsung and Oppo),” he said.
Revi explained that his party was still continuing to carry out developments to hunt down D alias B, who was suspected of being the main controller of the network.
“We have secured two suspects and evidence for further investigation.”Currently we are also coordinating with the North Sumatra Police’s Narcotics Research Directorate to uncover a wider distribution network,” he said.
