He revealed on Sunday (8/24) Timor Leste requested permission to install border stakes. While residents requested that the installation of stakes not be carried out in the 36 stakes around Inbate Village which borders directly with the Oecusse distribution.
The reason, said Yoseph, the area is still a quo or dispute because there has been no resolution from the two countries. However, the prohibition agreed upon by 15 family heads in Imbate Village was violated by the Timor Leste UPF police who continued to put a stake on Monday (25/8).
“Because our 36 stakes are Indonesian again waiting for instructions from the central government, but it turns out that in the field the UPF remains a stake so that the community is noisy,” he said.
The commotion of the inbate villagers then made UPF panic and issued warning shots six times. As a result of the warning shot, a resident of Inbate Village named Paulus Oki (58) was hit by a shot on the right shoulder.
“There are shots in one of our residents named Paulus,” explained Fallen.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Kefamenanu Regional Hospital to get medical treatment. And currently the victim is still undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, TTU Police Chief, AKBP.Eliana Papote said the situation at the scene was conducive.Residents involved in the commotion have been taken to the East Myomafo Police Headquarters for questioning.
He mentioned the commotion that occurred and led to the shooting due to the action of the Timor Leste apparatus who wanted to build a state border pillar that was allegedly included in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia.
“The reason is the action of the East Timorese apparatus who wants to build a state border pillar that is allegedly included in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia,” Eliana said through a written statement.
Eliana said from the results of the examination, the shooting was carried out by the UPF Timor Leste, totaling seven people.
