Economics graduates from Purdue University, Indiana, United States (US) are not new in government.Purbaya once filled several important positions, including Special Staff for Economic Affairs Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs (July 2016-MEI 2018) to Special Staff for the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Legal and Security Affairs Coordinating Ministry for Politics, Legal and Security (November 2015-Juli 2016).
He also served as Deputy for Coordination of Maritime Sovereignty and Energy Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (May 2018-September 2020).The important position occupied by Purbaya occurred when Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan became the Coordinating Minister for Marves.
