The KPK noted that the OTT against Abdul Wahid was the sixth this year.Previously, the anti-corruption agency had carried out a number of similar operations in various regions, ranging from alleged bribery for a road project in North Sumatra to an extortion case at the Ministry of Manpower that involved the names of high-ranking officials.

The name Abdul Wahid once became a source of pride for the people of Riau.He is known as a simple and hardworking figure who walked the long road from a life of deprivation until finally becoming the number one person in the province.
Born in Anak Peria Hamlet, Indragiri Hilir, on November 21 1980, Wahid grew up in a simple farming family.Since childhood, he has been used to helping his parents in the fields and gardens to make a living.
While studying at UIN Suska Riau, Tarbiyah Faculty, Wahid worked as a cleaning service and construction worker to pay for his education.
This perseverance and hard work later shaped Wahid’s figure, who was known to be humble and close to the common people.After being active in student and social organizations, he began his political career through the National Awakening Party (PKB).
The journey is fairly fast.Wahid successfully entered the DPR RI in 2019, then was re-elected in the 2024 elections with the most votes in his constituency.The image of a “regional child who fights from the bottom” earned him widespread support when running as a candidate for Governor of Riau.
The public’s hopes rose when President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated him as Governor of Riau for the 2025-2030 period at the State Palace.The figure that used to be a symbol of hard work is now considered to bring the spirit of change to Bumi Lancang Kuning.
However, not even a year in office, Abdul Wahid’s name has emerged in a suspected corruption case.His arrest by the Corruption Eradication Commission was a hard slap for the public who had high hopes for him.
For some Riau residents, this news feels like irony.A figure who was once praised for his simplicity now has to face the law for alleged abuse of authority.
