officially wrote to 2 United Nations (UN) institutions, namely the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and UNICEF to get involved in post-disaster management

The two institutions are considered to have experience in dealing with post-disasters such as the 2004 tsunami that hit Aceh
“In particular, the Aceh Government has also officially submitted a request for the involvement of several international institutions considering the experience of the 2004 tsunami disaster, such as UNDP and UNICEF,” said Aceh Government Spokesperson Muhammad MTA, Sunday (14/12).

His party has also written to the two institutions officially because of the need for recovery.
“It’s true (we have written). Considering that they are official UN institutions in Indonesia, we feel that asking for their involvement in recovery is very necessary,” he said.
The Aceh government assesses that the escalation of infrastructure damage due to landslides in 18 city districts was quite extensive and caused hundreds of residents to lose their lives and some were declared missing until the third week of the disaster.
He also noted that to date there have been 77 institutions and 1,960 volunteers who have entered Aceh in efforts to recover from the Aceh disaster.They are local, national and international institutions or NGOs.
The institutions that have been included in the BNPB volunteer desk for Aceh are Save The Children, Islamic Relief, ABF, DH Charity, FKKMK UGM, Mahtan Makassar, Relawan Nusantara, Baznas, EMT AHS UGM, Human Rights NGO Coalition, Katahati Institute, Orari, Geutanyoe Foundation and several others.
“It is very likely that the involvement of institutions and volunteers will continue to increase in responding to this disaster. On behalf of the people of Aceh and the victims, the Governor is very grateful for the good intentions and contributions they are making for the recovery of Aceh,” said Muhammad MTA.
From data from the Aceh hydrometeorological disaster emergency response post, updated on Sunday (14/12) at 13:36 WIB, 419 people died and 32 people were missing.Meanwhile, there are 474,691 refugees.
This disaster also damaged 258 offices, 287 places of worship, 305 schools, 431 Islamic boarding schools, 206 hospitals and health centers, 461 roads and 332 bridges were damaged.
