Armia said that if the public wants to get valid data regarding developments in handling the flood disaster in Aceh Tamiang, they should come directly to the Main Command Post that has been established by the government.
“If you want to ask for valid data, please come to the Nature Talking Post in the Prabu housing complex, Paya Bedi Village,” he said.
According to Armia, there were indeed residents who died as a result of the flood disaster in the village, but not as many as the rumors circulating.This area is also not an inland area.
“There were people in Kampung Dalam who died there. But I don’t think there are too many,” he said.
In fact, he said, when the flood first hit, he had time to cross the river in the area, because he was trapped by floodwaters in the Karang Baru area near the BPBD office.
“Yesterday I crossed the river via Kampung Dalam. But because the current was strong, I passed through the calm water section. We turned around and went in there, we saw there was nothing. I don’t think there was too much. There were no people floating,” stressed Armia.
On this occasion, Armia said that in the distribution of logistics to flood-affected villages, there were many means of transportation that could be used, including tractors to bring aid to difficult-to-access areas.
“We already have a lot of empty tractor equipment to send directly to villages that we don’t think we have touched, especially in the Tenggulun, Tamiang Hulu, Sungai Iyu and Banda Mulia areas,” he said.
Aceh Tamiang Regency was one of the worst hit areas in Tanah Rencong which was hit by flash floods last week.
Thousands of residents’ houses, public facilities, roads and bridges were destroyed.Delivery of aid was also hampered by broken transportation routes.
Many residents have not received logistical assistance.So far the number of refugees in Aceh Tamiang Regency is 215,652 people and 39 people have died.
