The Bandung City District Attorney appointed two Bandung City officials, namely M Erwin as Deputy Mayor of Bandung and Rendiana Awangga as Member of the Bandung City DPRD.
Both of them were named as suspects in alleged criminal acts of corruption which focused on the abuse of authority in regulating projects for the procurement of goods and services within the Bandung City Government in 2025.
Even though they had been named suspects, the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office did not arrest Erwin and Rendiana.The reason is that the Prosecutor’s Office must first send a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“The two suspects have not been detained considering the need for the Regional Government Law to obtain approval from the Minister of Home Affairs,” said Head of the Bandung District Prosecutor’s Office (Kajari), Irfan Wibowo at a press conference in Bandung City, Wednesday (10/12).
Irfan explained that the case status was upgraded to a special investigation after investigators obtained two valid pieces of evidence.
“Based on two pieces of sufficient evidence, investigators named two people as suspects, namely Brother E [Erwin] and Brother RA [Rendiana Awangga],” said Irfan.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects’ motive for corruption centered on efforts to direct a number of goods and services procurement project packages to officials in various Bandung City OPDs.Then ensure that these projects go to parties who are related or affiliated with both.This pattern is said to be carried out repeatedly and systematically.
Irfan emphasized that this action was not only a form of abuse of power, but also an attempt to secure benefits for certain parties unlawfully.
“The suspects asked OPD for a procurement work package, which was then implemented and benefited the affiliated party,” he said.
For their actions, the two suspects were charged with corruption which is directly related to the motive for abuse of authority.Primarily, both of them are subject to Article 12 letter e of the Corruption Law jo.Law 20/2001 jo.Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.Subsidiarily, they were also charged under Article 15 jo.Article 12 letter e of the Corruption Law.
Previously, last October, news circulated that Erwin had been caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office.However, this news was later denied by the prosecutor’s office and Erwin himself.
However, Erwin was then questioned and prevented from leaving the country by the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office.
The Bandung Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating a case of alleged corruption in the abuse of authority at the Bandung City Government in 2025. A number of witnesses have been questioned by Bandung Prosecutor’s Office investigators, including Erwin and officials within the Bandung City Government.
Meanwhile, Erwin, on October 31, explained the information he conveyed to the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office investigators.
At that time he admitted that he had fulfilled the investigator’s summons as a form of moral responsibility and support for the ongoing legal process.
“As a public official, I have a strong commitment to transparency, accountability and eradicating corruption within the Bandung City Government,” he said at the time.
Furthermore, he also admitted that he fully supports the legal process carried out by the Bandung Prosecutor’s Office in order to strengthen clean governance.
