“We were climbing straight towards the plane,” said the unnamed pilot.
According to the pilot, the plane was large. He thought the plane was a Boeing 777 or Boeing 767.
The pilot said the Falcon 900EX private jet he was carrying almost hit the large plane when it was at an altitude of around 26 thousand feet.
The US Air Force and US Southern Command have so far not commented.
This is the second incident after commercial plane JetBlue 1112 almost collided with a US military tanker last Friday (12/12).The JetBlue plane was also flying near Venezuela.
JetBlue 1112 departs from Curaçao for John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, USA.
The JetBlue pilot reported to traffic control that a US military plane crossed his flight path without turning on the transponder. The pilot finally lowered the altitude to prevent a collision.
The Pentagon and JetBlue said they were reviewing Friday’s incident.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) meanwhile told hitclubapk3 that it was aware of the two incidents and was gathering information.
Curaçao is located about 40 miles north of the coast of Venezuela.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) last month issued a warning asking planes to exercise caution throughout Venezuelan airspace.
The FAA said the security situation in Venezuela was deteriorating and there was increased military activity in and around the country.
On Tuesday (16/12), the FAA again issued the same warning.
“The threat could pose a potential risk to aircraft at all altitudes, including during cross-region flights, the arrival and departure phases of aircraft, and/or airports or aircraft on the ground,” the FAA warned.
