) thanked the President of the Republic of Indonesia
Prabowo Subianto
for being awarded a national hero to his grandfather, Sarwo Edhie Prabowo.
“The extended family of Sarwo Edhie Wibowo would like to express their highest gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto and the government for bestowing this National Hero award,” said AHY at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday (10/11).
The eldest son of the sixth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), said that one of his grandfather’s important services was his role in eradicating the G30S in 1965, which AHY said was led by the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI).

Sarwo Edhie is AHY’s grandfather from his mother, the late Ani Yudhoyono.
While active as a soldier and eradicating G30S, Sarwo Edhie served as Head of RPKAD which is currently the TNI AD Kopassus.
“And at that time, he had an important service in eradicating G30S/PKI. This is of course a reminder to all of us in the extended family and the next generation to be able to continue all the legacy and at the same time the ideals and values of the struggle he fought during his lifetime,” he said.
Sarwo Edhie was declared a national hero on Monday (10/11).He was declared a national hero along with nine other figures.
The nine other figures include the second President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soeharto, the fourth President of the Republic of Indonesia, Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur), and the labor activist Marsinah who died at the hands of the authorities during the New Order (Orba).
