Indonesian racer, Veda Ega Pratama is aiming for the Rookie of the Year title, aka best newcomer at the World Championship

“Yes, Bismillah, I can be Rookie of the Year,” said Veda when met at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta City, DIY, Tuesday (23/12).
The racer from Gunungkidul, DIY is also ready to beat his fellow debutants who also graduated from the 2025 Red Bull Rookies Cup, namely Hakim Danish and Brian Uriarte.

Uriarte himself is Veda’s rival and champion of the 2025 Red Bull Rookies Cup.
“They already have more experience (in Moto3) because they have had wildcard opportunities in Malaysia, Australia and also in Valencia,” said Veda.
“Surely they have got their own settings. So, yes, they have a plus, but yes, yesterday I also had the chance to test at Jerez (circuit). So, yes, we’ll see tomorrow, because next year, at the beginning of the year, there will be tests in Portugal and in Jerez,” he continued.
Veda, who is the 2025 Red Bull Rookies Cup runner-up, is aware that securing the title of best debutant for the upcoming event will be full of challenges.Including stepping up with his new team Honda Team Asia at a higher level racing series.
“I’m also learning because it’s also a new team, and also new mechanics, everything is new, the team, the motorbike are different for sure, yes, step by step,” he said.
Apart from that, he has also started analyzing the competition map at next year’s event.Several names of riders such as the 2025 Moto3 Rookie of the Year and Marc Marquez’s protégé, namely Maximo Quiles and Alvaro Carpe, who performed solidly in the last competition, are on Veda’s radar.
The experience of paving with the Red Bull Rookies Cup has become Veda’s capital to compete with these two names.
“They’re all strong, it’s like they’re all racing, but yes, next year, 2026, they will be strong,” he said.
