As an emergency response step, AirNav Indonesia issued NOTAM TIBA (Traffic Information Broadcast by Aircraft) at Lhokseumawe, Takengon and Mandailing Natal Airports.
Avirianto explained that this step was taken because some of the navigation personnel on duty at the location were also affected by flooding or problems with access to the work location.
Apart from that, the Aviation Navigation Operational Post was also activated at the Indonesia Network Management Center (INMC) facility as a center for coordination, control and monitoring of services for units in the affected areas.
AirNav also added operational and technical personnel at a number of branch offices, including the Makassar Air Traffic Service Center (MATSC), Jakarta Air Traffic Service Center (JATSC), Halim Perdanakusuma, and Pekanbaru to strengthen services at the Aceh and Medan branch offices.
Apart from that, to ensure airport operations continue to run and support the humanitarian air missions of a number of agencies, direct assignment of personnel to service units in Lhokseumawe and Takengon was also carried out.
“Such as Basarnas, TNI, BNPB, and other humanitarian institutions. With the recovery of these personnel, NOTAM TIBA was then revoked,” said Avirianto.
On the infrastructure side, AirNav Indonesia also strengthens the aviation communications system by providing and installing the Stairlink internet network in Lhokseumawe, Sibolga and Gunung Sitoli. This is done to ensure operational connections remain stable, even if land telecommunications infrastructure experiences disruption.
“As long as the emergency response status is in effect, AirNav Indonesia will continue to monitor conditions on the ground and be ready to take additional resources and further technical steps if necessary. This is to ensure the safety and smooth navigation of flights and fully support ongoing humanitarian operations,” concluded Avirianto.
