, is favored as one of the candidates to coach Ajax Amsterdam.
Former Ajax Amsterdam player, Theo Janssen, favored Pastoor as coach of the Godenzonen squad after sacking John Heitinga from his post last week.
Currently, Ajax’s coaching is temporarily led by Fred Grim.A number of names of successors emerged to fill the seat left by Heitinga, including Pastoor.

“If you look at the list of names [of potential coaches], there are many former people who were at Ajax,” said Janssen on the Studio Sport: Eredivisie program, quoted

“However, they [Ajax Amsterdam management] have to look for different options. For example, Alex Pastoor, who has the character of a coach like a teacher,” said the 44 year old man.
Pastoor is seen as a coach full of acid and salt.Apart from having been involved in the world of coaching for 24 years, he has also promoted three different clubs to the Eredivisie.
The clubs that Alex Pastoor brought to the highest caste of the Dutch League were Excelsior, Sparta Rotterdam and Almere City.He was also Marco van Basten’s assistant at AZ Alkmaar.
“He [Alex Pastoor] has a clear vision for ending the season. I’m sure he is interested in this opportunity and I think he is the ideal solution for Ajax,” said Janssen.
