However, Arief did not mention in detail who the senior figure who was said to often dictate to Bahlil was.
He also believes that Bahlil really understands what is involved in leading the banyan party.
Arief said that Golkar has now entered a new era, and Bahlil as chairman has a vision of where to take the Golkar Party in the future.
“It will involve the best young people, those who have integrity, who have the intellectual capacity to take up strategic spaces in serving the party,” he said.
At the opening of the Golkar national leadership meeting at the Golkar Party DPP, last Saturday (20/12), Bahlil mentioned seniors who often still feel powerful even though they have retired.
“That’s right, Mr Agung. Don’t let that slogan only apply to seniors, once your younger siblings become general chairmen, they still feel like they will continue to be general chairmen like that. That’s not allowed, that’s not allowed,” said Bahlil.
Bahlil admitted that he was often taught by senior Golkar politicians, one of whom was former Golkar Chairman Agung Laksono, that every leader must have his time, and not forever.
“I always got the teachings of Pak Agung, Pak Zainuddin, Pak Freddy Latumahina in the past, every leader has a time, every time there is a leader,” he said.
In front of the seniors, Bahlil also said that currently there is a new generation of Golkar management.
“Don’t think that this theory only applies to older brothers. As soon as we lead, [seniors] still continue to feel like being the general chairman, what, can’t do it. This is the new generation of Golkar, this is the new generation of the Golkar Party,” he said.
