The nation is in a safe condition during the 2025 Christmas celebrations and ahead of the 2026 New Year (
Nataru
).
The government stated that it continues to monitor food stocks, prices and distribution so that people’s needs remain met during the year-end holiday period.
“The values of togetherness, care and unity are our spirit in protecting national food. The state must be present to ensure that people’s needs are met, including during Christmas celebrations,” said Amran in an official statement, Thursday (25/12).

Amran explained that the stock of a number of strategic food commodities was in a safe position.Rice stocks are estimated to reach 3.53 million tonnes by the end of 2025, while supplies of cooking oil are said to be sufficient for national needs.
“We are producers of cooking oil that supplies the world. Our stock is safe. We estimate our rice stock will be 3.53 million tonnes at the end of the year, and that is the highest,” he explained.
For animal protein commodities such as eggs and chicken meat, Amran said the government had carried out direct checks at the farmer level to ensure supplies and prices remained stable.
“We have checked with the breeder, the eggs and chickens are compatible, stable. So please don’t let any entrepreneurs play around with the situation, taking advantage of the Christmas and New Year moments. We have enough stock,” he stressed.
He added that price fluctuations for horticultural commodities such as chilies are still influenced by weather factors.However, strategic commodities that are in surplus and have the highest retail prices (HET) may not experience an increase.
“It’s normal for chilies to rise a little because of the rain. But what is not allowed is rice and cooking oil, eggs and chicken, because we have a surplus and there is a HET,” he said.
On the same occasion, Amran also revealed allegations of violations of the HET for cooking oil by two producers.The government, he said, has taken steps through the Food Task Force with a focus on action at the producer level.
“We are pursuing those suspected of violating them. We are focusing on the producers. If proven, the sanctions will be criminal and permit revocation,” he said.
Regarding purebred chicken eggs, Amran ensures that national availability is safe until Eid 2026. Food balance projections show that the national demand for purebred chicken egg consumption in 2025 is estimated at 6.487 million tonnes, while production reaches 6.561 million tonnes, so there is still a surplus.
The final stock in 2025 is projected to increase to 74.5 thousand tonnes, compared to the final stock in 2024 which is at 29.3 thousand tonnes.
The government also emphasized that egg price fluctuations are seasonal and are not significantly influenced by the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG).
Of the total national consumption needs, the portion of needs for Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) or MBG kitchens in 2025 is estimated to be around 1.96 percent or 127.3 thousand tons.
Even though stocks are considered sufficient, the government continues to monitor egg price movements so that they are in line with the Sales Reference Price (HAP) at the consumer level of IDR 30 thousand per kilogram.
“Alhamdulillah, the eggs were good, but we can’t be careless. There are enough eggs. I said they shouldn’t go up. If they go up, we’ll take action,” said Amran.
