Amran Projects Rice Production This Year to Reach 34.77 Million Tons

“BPS KSA data (Central Statistics Agency Area Sample Framework) states that rice production from January to December 2025 reached 34.77 million tons, an increase of 13.54 percent from the given target of 32 million tons. So, there is an increase of 2.7 million tons from the given target,” he said at a Working Meeting with Commission IV DPR RI, Central Jakarta, Monday (24/11).
Amran also conveyed that this achievement brought the national rice stock to the level of 4.2 million tons.According to him, this figure is not only higher than the government’s target, but also exceeds the projections of international institutions.

“This increase in rice production is higher than projections from the United States Department of Agriculture (

) which states that Indonesia’s rice production for the 2024-2025 planting season will reach 34.6 million tonnes.”FAO also predicts that our rice production will reach 35.6 million tons in 2025,” explained Amran.
On the other hand, production of dry shelled corn with a moisture content of 14 percent during January-December 2025 is estimated to reach 16.55 million tons, an increase of 9.34 percent compared to the same period the previous year.
Amran emphasized that with these achievements, Indonesia will not import corn for feed this year.
“Indonesia is not importing feed this year, corn is for feed,” he said.
The production performance of horticultural and plantation commodities also recorded a significant increase.
Realization of production of various chilies reached 92 percent, shallots 89.45 percent, while coconut, palm oil, rubber and cocoa each reached above 85 percent.
For coffee and sugar cane, production realization was even recorded at 104.15 percent and 104.86 percent.
The livestock sector also shows a similar trend.Cattle production reached 92.74 percent, goat and sheep meat 88.74 percent, while chicken meat and eggs were at 87 percent and 86.49 percent respectively.
Amran explained that the Ministry of Agriculture’s 2026 work plan would focus on increasing production of rice, corn and other strategic commodities.
The program also includes creating new rice fields, optimizing land, rehabilitating irrigation, providing superior seeds, machinery, subsidized fertilizer, to regenerating farmers and downstreaming commodities such as sugar cane, cocoa, coconut, coffee and pepper.
For 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture is targeting the production of several main commodities, namely rice 34.77 million tonnes, corn, which was revised to 18 million tonnes, various chilies 3.08 million tonnes, shallots 2 million tonnes, sugar cane 39.5 million tonnes, coffee 786 thousand tonnes, cocoa 633 thousand tonnes, coconut 2.89 million tonnes, beef and buffalo 514 thousand tonnes, chicken meat 4.34 million tonnes,and eggs 7.75 million tons.
This target information is also included in Amran’s presentation regarding strategic commodity production targets for 2026, including rice at 60.34 million tons of milled dry unhulled grain (GKG), which is equivalent to 34.77 million tons of rice.
