“Later we will call, we will call the big companies,” said the boss of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (11/11).

Amran explained that the government is currently encouraging increased production by increasing the supply of day old chicks (DOC) and increasing the stock of broodstock (grand parent stock).
It is hoped that this effort will reduce prices and at the same time provide an opportunity for breeders to get back on their feet after previously suffering many losses.
“We are currently issuing a DOC, adding to the grand parent stock, we are adding everything. We are encouraging breeders to produce. This is an opportunity for breeders to rise. Many breeders suffered losses before, right. Well, this is an opportunity. This is the positive impact of MBG (Free Nutritious Meals),” he said.
He believes that the current increase in egg prices does not have a completely negative impact because it is also driving the economy in the livestock sector.Amran said that three months ago the price of eggs was still around IDR 18 thousand per kilogram (kg), while now it has soared in a number of areas.
“We are now pushing because there is MBG. This increase has a good impact on economic movement. Three months ago the price of eggs was IDR 18 thousand, right?”he said.
In the short term, the government plans to increase national production ahead of Christmas and New Year (Nataru) to maintain stock availability on the market.
“We increase production, we increase DOC, we increase grand parent stock, we increase everything,” he added.
As a long-term solution, Amran said the government will build an integrated egg and chicken production ecosystem so that the supply chain is more efficient and sustainable.
“The permanent solution is that we will build an ecosystem for eggs and chickens. We will build an integrated ecosystem to meet MBG,” he said.
This policy is in line with the government’s steps to prepare an investment of IDR 20 trillion to build broiler and egg-laying chicken farms throughout Indonesia.This project is part of a strategy to strengthen food supplies to support the MBG program.
Amran previously explained that the construction of this chicken farm was the result of an agreement in a meeting to finalize the downstreaming of the agriculture, food, plantation, horticulture and livestock sectors with a number of ministries and institutions.
Based on data from the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) until the first week of November 2025, the price of purebred chicken eggs was recorded to have increased in 43.33 percent of Indonesia.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the price increase occurred amidst increasing demand due to various community activities, such as celebrations and commemorations of the Prophet Muhammad SAW’s birthday, as well as the need for supplies for the MBG program.
Several regions recorded prices that were far above the reference sales price (HAP).In Kampar Regency, the price of eggs reached IDR 48,333 per kg or 61.11 percent above the HAP.
In Melawi Regency, the price is at IDR 42 thousand per kg, while in Alor Regency it reaches IDR 39,667.
The highest price nationally was recorded in Central Mamberamo Regency at IDR 100 thousand per kg, followed by Puncak Jaya and Intan Jaya Regencies which each reached IDR 90 thousand per kg.The lowest price is around IDR 23,300 per kg in several production center areas.
The increase in egg prices is also influenced by distribution factors, unstable feed supplies, as well as price increases at the producer and supplier level.
