highlighting three naturalized Malaysian players who were punished

regarding the use of fake documents by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
FIFA rejected FAM’s appeal regarding the penalty for using fake documents in the naturalization process of seven Malaysian national team players on Monday (3/11).
As a result of rejecting the appeal, FIFA still punished FAM with a fine of 350,000 Swiss francs or the equivalent of IDR 7.3 billion.

The seven players involved were also fined 2,000 Swiss francs and banned from playing for 12 months.The seven naturalized Malaysian players punished by FIFA are: Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, Joao Figueiredo, Jon Irazabal, Hector Hevel, Facundo Garces and Gabriel Palmero.
After FIFA rejected FAM’s appeal, three of the seven Malaysian players were in the spotlight of the Argentine media.The reason is, the three players come from Argentina: Machuca, Holgado and Garces.

, by being banned from playing for 12 months, Machuca, Holgado and Garces cannot play until September 2026.The length of the punishment is based on the first time FIFA punished FAM and the seven players, namely on September 26 2025.
“Thus, the three Argentine players will not be able to play until September 26 next year, just like the other players who are sanctioned,” wrote Ole.
After the rejection of the appeal by FIFA, FAM will reportedly take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).FAM has 21 days after the appeal is rejected to submit an appeal to CAS.

reported that Imanol Macucha would serve his sentence in Brazil.Velez Sarsfield will not extend the loan period of the 25 year winger.
In January 2025, Machucha was loaned by Brazilian club Fortaleza to Velez.But because of punishment from FIFA, Velez returned Machuca to Fortaleza.
“Velez’s management does not plan to extend his stay, so the player will have to serve the remainder of his sentence in Brazil, without the possibility of competing for the next 12 months,” Cronica wrote.
