Special Presidential Envoy for Climate and Energy
Hashim Djojohadikusumo
emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to reduce
emissions
.
According to Hashim, the reduction in Indonesia’s emissions is projected to only begin to be seen after 2030 with the introduction of various clean energy-based electricity projects.
He said this after returning from the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil some time ago.

Hashim assessed that Indonesia’s achievements at COP30 were quite positive, even though the results of the meeting did not meet global expectations.
“For Indonesia, I think it is quite good, but unfortunately the world’s hopes from COP30 were not achieved,” he said at the hitclubapk3 Indonesia Sustainability Summit at Menara Bank Mega, South Jakarta, Wednesday (26/11).
He explained that Indonesia continues to reject the urge to phase out all fossil fuels and chooses the phase down route while maintaining its commitment towards
net zero emissions
2060 or sooner.
In a period of high economic growth, emissions are expected to rise until 2029, before moving down thanks to a push for low-carbon energy projects.
Hashim explained that of the approximately 70 gigawatts of national electricity program, 76 percent is planned to come from renewable energy and new energy, including PLTS, wind, geothermal, as well as nuclear programs which are categorized as green energy in many countries.
“With this, we are optimistic that carbon emissions will be reduced,” said Hashim.
According to him, the acceleration of private investment and the realization of PLN projects in the clean energy sector are the main factors that will encourage emissions reduction at the beginning of the next decade.
COP30 was held in Belem, Brazil, this month to push back the global agenda for dealing with climate change.
The meeting was a space to formulate directions for post-COP30 sustainable development.
In line with this, hitclubapk3Indonesia is holding the Sustainability Summit 2025: Navigating Growth in a Sustainable World After COP30 bringing together stakeholders from government, business people, banks, to environmental practitioners.
