He added that this collaboration is a concrete manifestation of BNI’s role in supporting the development of the Indonesian film industry so that it can continue to develop, innovate and become increasingly well known on the international stage.
Iko Uwais, who also acts as director and main actor in Film Timur, said he was proud of this collaboration.According to him, collaboration provides space for him to return to work and help revive the national film industry.
“After working abroad for so long, I am proud to be able to return to Indonesia and finally take a new step as a director,” said Iko Uwais.
According to him, the momentum of this collaboration is an important marker for national cinema, especially in efforts to present international class emotional action works produced by Indonesian talents.
The film Timur tells the story of a soldier named Timur and his team who rescue a kidnapped researcher in a dense forest.
Through this film, Iko, who was inspired by the true story of the Mapenduma incident in 1996, wants to bring a story of brotherhood that is strong, full of emotion, while showing a new standard of Indonesian action cinema that combines the power of choreography and storytelling.
“For more than five years we have dreamed of building a production house that can deliver international class action films. And finally today we can release Timur together,” continued Iko.
