BNPB: 11 Regions in Aceh Extend Disaster Emergency Response Status

Aceh Province

The 11 city districts that have extended their emergency response status are Pidie Regency, Pidie Jaya Regency, Bireuen Regency, Central Aceh Regency and Gayo Lues Regency.
Then, North Aceh Regency, East Aceh Regency, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Nagan Raya Regency, and Lhokseumawe City.
Of the 11 city districts affected by the disaster which extended the emergency response status, seven districts were in the category of being seriously affected by the flood disaster.
“The worst districts are Aceh Tamiang Regency, East Aceh Regency, North Aceh Regency, Bireuen Regency, Bener Meriah Regency, Central Aceh Regency and Gayo Lues Regency,” said Suharyanto.
Meanwhile, the city districts that are entering the transition period from emergency to recovery are Southeast Aceh Regency, South Aceh Regency, Subulussalam City, Langsa City, West Aceh Regency, Aceh Besar Regency, and Aceh Singkil Regency.
Meanwhile, Aceh Regional Secretary M Nasir said that the areas affected by the disaster reached 3,978 villages spread across 225 sub-districts in 18 city districts.
“The urgent needs of disaster victims have now shifted to non-food items such as refugee tents, reservoirs and clean water, emergency lights, medical materials, kitchen equipment and others,” he said.
Meanwhile, the total logistics distributed during the emergency response period, said M Nasir, reached 1,251.6 tonnes of the 1,478.8 tonnes of aid received, both food and non-food.
“With city districts entering a transition period, recovery will be carried out immediately. For the initial stage, we are encouraging the repair of lightly and moderately damaged houses in order to reduce the number of displacements,” said M Nasir.
