Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti conveyed the use of AI in the form of entering business classification codes in the BPS digital survey tool called CAPI.
The BPS CAPI application is a digital interview system used for efficient survey and census data collection with the main application called
Flexible Authentic Survey in Harmony
(FLUENT).

“With Gen AI, enumerators will easily determine which business is included in which KPLI,” said Amalia in the 2025 KBLI Release press conference at the BPS Office, Central Jakarta, Friday (19/12).
Amalia emphasized that the use of AI aims to minimize discrepancies in the 2025 Standard Classification of Indonesian Business Fields (KLBI).

BPS officially released the 2025 KBLI which is regulated in Central Statistics Agency Regulation Number 7 of 2025 dated 18 December 2025 concerning the Standard Classification of Indonesian Business Fields.
KBLI is a classification designed by BPS to group various economic activities into certain groups based on similar activity characteristics.
Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that the 2025 KBLI is a refinement of the 2020 KBLI which continues to be updated following the needs of the times so that it can remain relevant and responsive to developments in economic activity.
“KBLI improvements are carried out every 5 years so that it remains relevant and responsive to current needs and developments in economic activity,” said Amalia.
Apart from that, the preparation of the 2025 KBLI refers to the recommendations of the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC) Revision 5 issued by the UN Statistical Commission (UNSC).
