Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri said that his party would take firm action against members involved in the incident of the escort of an online motorcycle taxi driver (
ojol
) to death by a Brimob tactical vehicle (Rantis) car.
“I emphasize here, I will take firm action against members who made mistakes, violations of this afternoon,” said Asep at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta, Thursday (8/28).
Asep said, his party handed over the entire process of handling these events to the National Police Professional and Security Division (Divpropam).
“Later we will submit it to the Propam Kadiv process,” he said.
Previously, wide circulating videos of Rantis Brimob cars running over by a person wearing an ojol green jacket.The incident occurred amid the efforts of the officials to dissolve the demonstrators who were increasingly widespread from the front of the Indonesian Parliament Building.
As a result of the incident, National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo asked the Metro Jaya Police Chief to immediately take the steps needed to handle the victim.
“Immediately take the steps needed with the team from Pusdokes and Karumkit Polri,” he said.
In addition, Sigit claimed to have also ordered the Head of Propam Kadiv to investigate the incident.
“I have also ordered Kadivpropam to follow up and take steps to the events that occurred,” he said.
