Thousands of respondents were also asked about candidates in general elections in other regions. One of them is the election for deputy governor of the state of Virginia, which is contested by Democratic candidate Ghazala Hashmi.
Just like Mamdani, Hashmi, who is also a Muslim, was also elected by the majority of Muslims. He received 95 percent of the vote from Virginia Muslims.
In last week’s election, there were 76 Muslim candidates who took part in the contest.A total of 38 of them won the election.
Muslims in the US are noted to tend to vote for candidates from the Democratic Party who are Muslim and who are supported by fellow Muslims.
According to CAIR, Muslims in the US are working to “build a better future for themselves and beyond, proving that participation, not prejudice, defines a nation’s strength”.
