The Cartenz Peace Operations Task Force and Yahukimo Police are currently investigating the murder case of two agarwood wood search workers by a group of unknown people (OTK) at Kampung Bor Camp, Sumo District, Yahukimo Regency,
Papua Mountains
, Saturday (29/11) at around 18.05 WIT.
The two dead victims were identified as Sugianto (43) and Hardiyanto (39).Meanwhile, two other people managed to survive, namely Nur Asyah (Sugianto’s wife) and Alias (Nur Asyah’s brother).

“The team has moved to carry out a series of investigative steps, starting from collecting witness statements, examining the scene of the incident, to developing information regarding the perpetrator and motive for the attack,” said Head of Cartenz Peace Operations, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani in his statement, Monday (1/12).
Based on witness E’s statement, the incident began when he received a telephone call from the survivor, Alias, at around 18.05 WIT.
In that communication, Alias reported an attack on two gaharu workers at Camp Kampung Bor.
Then, at around 21.30 WIT, Alias again contacted witness E and said that the two victims’ bodies were being evacuated using a fiber boat from Kampung Bor to Agats City, Asmat Regency, with an estimated journey of around seven hours.
Faizal explained that the four victims belonged to one family who lived in Agats City, Asmat Regency, South Papua.The victims are known to have lived and worked at the scene for approximately five years with their families.
Apart from working as agarwood collectors, this family also runs a basic food stall business in Kampung Bor.To date, all victims, both survivors and deceased, have been evacuated to Agats City.
“We are committed to uncovering this case and ensuring a sense of security for the community,” said Faizal.
Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Cartenz Peace Operations, Kombes Adarma Sinaga, said that increasing the presence of personnel in vulnerable areas is a priority.
“We have increased patrols and monitoring of community movement routes. Coordination continues with the Yahukimo Police to maintain the stability of social security and order after the incident,” he said.
