Nanang (27) could only bow his head when police officers led him to the Bandung Police Criminal Investigation Unit detention room, Wednesday (12/11).
He is the suspected sole perpetrator who executed Ilham (21), a cell phone counter officer, in Sukamulya, Sukajadi, Bandung City, Friday (7/11).
Ilham died after being killed by Nanang with 30 stabs.Nanang admitted that he had no intention of ending Ilham’s life.The intention, Nanang wanted to steal money and merchandise cellphones.

But when he was discovered, he attacked Ilham with the machete he was carrying.
“So when the perpetrator was caught entering (the counter), the victim woke up. Because he was caught by the perpetrator stabbing the victim once. Then the victim ran to the toilet, was chased by the perpetrator and was immediately stabbed several times,” said Bandung Police Chief Commissioner Budi Sartono, at the Police Headquarters, Wednesday (12/11).
After confirming that the victim was dead, Nanang stole cash and several other valuables totaling IDR 20.6 million.
“There’s more than IDR 10 million in cash,” said Budi.
The theft was planned.Nanang himself worked at the cellphone counter for almost eight years, namely from 2013 to 2021.
After quitting his job at the cellphone counter, Nanang worked as a construction worker.
Until finally at the planned time, Friday (7/11) early in the morning, Nanang left his workplace for the location of the cellphone counter armed with a sharp machete in the early morning.
Before taking action, Nanang ate fried rice close to the cellphone counter while monitoring.Once he felt safe, he entered the counter through the roof, to steal dozens of cellphones and cash.
Unexpectedly, Ilham apparently spent the night at the counter he was guarding.Inspiration was awakened by the thief’s actions.Nanang was confused.He immediately drew his machete and slashed Ilham instantly.
Inspiration panic fear.He ran and tried to save himself in the toilet.But that’s where Ilham got stuck.Nanang also ended Ilham’s life by repeatedly stabbing him with his machete.
Nanang ran away.But he couldn’t erase the traces of his murder.
It didn’t take long for the police to detect Nanang’s whereabouts, after investigating the crime scene.
Nanang didn’t move when the police came to his rented house in Cicalengka, Bandung Regency, Tuesday (11/11) yesterday morning.
“For the perpetrators, we apply Article 365 of the Criminal Code regarding theft accompanied by violence. The threat of imprisonment is more than five years in prison,” he said.
During this disclosure, the police also secured several pieces of evidence, including the machete used by Nanang to kill Ilham, credit vouchers and cash left over from the theft.
As a result of the police investigation, the motive behind this action turned out to be that Nanang was in debt.He was addicted to online gambling and owed money to several friends and relatives.Because he was stuck and had dark eyes, he was determined to commit theft.
Nanang’s debt is IDR 2 million.After committing the theft, Nanang used the stolen money to make another deposit to an online gambling site.However, once again, Nanang lost his gambling.
