Usually, the price of red chilies is around IDR 50 thousand to IDR 60 thousand per kg in Banda Aceh.

Price increases also occurred for a number of basic commodities.The price of chicken eggs has also increased to IDR 70 thousand a board, where the price is usually around IDR 50 thousand per board.
Apart from rising prices, stocks of basic commodities in Banda Aceh are starting to run low.These commodities are mostly supplied by North Sumatra.Currently, distribution lines are broken due to floods and landslides that occurred in Bireuen to Aceh Tamiang.

A trader at Al Mahirah Market, Rahmat, said that the high prices of chilies and other basic commodities were due to the flood situation, especially the roads on the east coast of Aceh which had been cut off, so goods from North Sumatra could not enter Banda Aceh.
“This is the last supply, for three days no (basic food items) have entered Banda Aceh because the road is cut off in Bireuen and Tamiang, all traders like that have run out of goods,” said Rahmat, Friday (28/11).
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Banda Aceh, Illiza Saaduddin Djamal, has issued a Circular not to do so

in order to maintain the stability of the supply of basic necessities.
Illiza in the letter appealed to shops, supermarkets and retailers to implement restrictions on the number of purchases of certain goods per consumer to ensure equal availability of basic goods.
Banda Aceh City Government Spokesperson Tomi Mukhtar confirmed the appeal letter.From the mapping results, his party has currently experienced an increase in prices and shortages of basic goods among traders and distributors.
