approved the arrest of the former abbot of the Temple
Shaolin
Shi Yongxin for alleged involvement in the case
bribe
and embezzlement of temple funds.
The government of Henan Province, where the Shaolin Temple is located, has approved the arrest on “alleged embezzlement, misappropriation of money, and acceptance of bribes as a non-state employee,” Xinxiang Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

AFP said it was not yet known whether Shi had been arrested by law enforcement or not.

Shi became the abbot of the Shaolin Temple in 1999. The 60-year-old man expanded his knowledge and knowledge of Shaolin culture to various countries.
He is also known as the monk CEO because he founded dozens of companies outside China.However, he received criticism for commercializing Buddhist teachings.
A number of former monks accused Shi of embezzling money from companies run by the Shaolin Temple.Shi is also suspected of owning a series of luxury cars and having children with a number of women.
In July, China’s top Buddhist organization revoked Shi’s ordination certificate.
“Shi Yongxin’s actions constitute extremely bad behavior, seriously damaging the reputation of the Buddhist community, hurting the image of the monks,” said the Chinese Buddhist Association.
Shaolin Temple was founded in 495. This temple is known as the birthplace of Zen Buddhism and Chinese kung fu.
