The audio recording contains radio communications between the Chinese and Japanese navies.
China released this clip as proof that it had informed Japan about its aircraft activity in international waters near Okinawa. This clip also refutes Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi that Beijing has not said anything about its aircraft activities.
“This is Chinese Navy warship 101. Our formation is arranging aircraft flight training on board according to plan. Over,” a man’s voice said in Mandarin and English.
“Chinese battleship 101, this is Japanese battleship 116. I copied your message,” replied a woman in English, as quoted

According to the social media account managed by CCTV, Yuyuantantian, radio communication between the Chinese and Japanese ships occurred at 14.10 and 14.28 local time.
Based on information provided by sources from the Chinese side, the Beijing military told Japan that the drill would start at 15.00 and last about six hours, “mainly in the area south of the aircraft carrier”.
The Japanese confirmed via radio that they received the notification. However, after the exercise began, two Japanese F-15 planes approached, causing a radar shooting incident to occur.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said it was standard practice for carrier-based aircraft around the world to activate search radars during flight exercises. These activities are also called routine actions that are necessary to ensure flight safety.
Guo’s statement implied that the radar signal detected by the Japanese came from a search radar rather than a fire control radar. However, when asked, Guo did not explicitly deny that the Chinese military did not turn on the fire control radar at all at that time.
Guo continued, the presence of Japanese fighter jets in the Chinese training area “created dangerous incidents that should never have happened”.
He assessed that Japan’s military action was deliberately carried out to disrupt China’s military exercises and trigger tensions.
According to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, the radar aiming incidents occurred at two separate times.First, at 16.32 with intermittent radar illumination lasting three minutes.
Second, at 18.37 for more than 31 minutes which also lasted intermittently.
