In the meeting which lasted 45 minutes, Luhut also reported on a number of developments in the economic sector, including regarding the development of the germplasm industry, which is currently being carried out by the Herbal and Horticulture Science Technology Park (TSTH2).
“We are very happy that this afternoon President Prabowo and his only son, Mas Didit, took the time to come to our residence to share the joy of Christmas. Luhut also reported on the progress of tariff negotiations between the Indonesian Government and the United States Government.
“During our conversation earlier, I saw that the President seemed very happy to hear the news that tariff negotiations with the United States would soon be completed. He also advised us to maintain good bilateral relations with partner and friendly countries. I also reported on the readiness to launch GovTech for Digital Social Assistance in October next year which is planned to be attended directly by President Prabowo and the President of the World Bank, a big step for the transparency and efficiency of Indonesian public services,” said Luhut.
Luhut said Prabowo welcomed efforts to develop Indonesian germplasm.
“What is most interesting to me is his positive attention to the development of the seed industry through research that we are currently carrying out at TSTH2, because he really emphasizes that seed independence is the key to the future of our food industry,” said Luhut.
Not only about priority programs, Luhut and Prabowo also discussed restoring the situation in disaster-affected areas in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
“President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation for the TNI’s quick action in dealing with disasters in Sumatra by building 150 bailey bridges at several points in order to restore post-disaster conditions in several disaster-affected areas in Sumatra,” said Luhut.
Luhut also revealed the message conveyed by Prabowo.
“There is one message from him that I think is relevant to the Christmas spirit. That in the midst of the storm of trials that hit this nation, we must always be united and maintain unity. Especially in accelerating the recovery of our brothers and sisters who are being hit by disasters in Sumatra and Aceh,” he said.
“For me, his visit this afternoon is a reminder that no burden feels heavy if it is carried together; because humanity and unity are the real bridges to bring this nation up and continue to move forward,” said Luhut.
