Claudia Sheinbaum

In a press conference on Wednesday (5/11), Sheinbaum said the incident occurred on Tuesday (4/11) when he was walking to the Ministry of Education to attend a meeting.At that time, local residents gathered to greet him.

“We decided to walk. Many people greeted us along the way and there were no problems until finally a drunk man came and I experienced this harassment,” said Sheinbaum, as quoted by hitclubapk3 Mexico.
The video obtained by hitclubapk3 Mexico shows the moment when the man came from behind Sheinbaum and immediately embraced and touched the President’s breasts.The man also tried to kiss Sheinbaum in front of a crowd of residents.
As a result of this incident, the man was arrested.The reason is, after harassing Sheinbaum, the man also reportedly harassed other women on the same street.
Sheinbaum has filed a lawsuit with the Attorney General of Mexico City for legal proceedings in question.
“If I don’t file a lawsuit, what will happen to all the women of Mexico? If they dare do this to the president, what will happen to all the young women in this country?”Sheinbaum emphasized.
Sexual harassment is a crime contained in Article 179 of the Mexico City Criminal Code.
Based on this regulation, anyone who commits a sexual act that the victim does not want and causes psychological or emotional harm or suffering that violates the victim’s dignity can be subject to a prison sentence of one to three years.
Sheinbaum on the same occasion emphasized that she would launch a campaign regarding “all Mexican women”.Along with that, he called for sexual harassment to be declared a national crime in all Mexican states.
“Women must be respected in all things. And harassment is a crime,” he concluded.
Mexico has 31 states and one federal territory, namely Mexico City.All of them have their own criminal laws.Additionally, not all states consider sexual harassment a crime.
Sheinbaum stated that sexual harassment should be designated a criminal offense.He will review the law so that this crime can be punished throughout Mexico.
