More than six waste collection points. The worst conditions were under the Ciputat flyover. The piles of rubbish are very large and cause an unpleasant odor.
A similar scene was also seen at Cimanggis Market, Ciputat. The temporary waste collection site can no longer accommodate the amount of waste.
Riders, especially motorbikes passing by, are forced to cover their noses because of the increasingly strong stench, especially when it rains.Residents said they were worried if the mounting rubbish collapsed and covered the road.
One resident, Setiawan (57 years old) said that the rubbish had not been collected for more than a week.
“Trash has been piling up under the Ciputat flyover since Friday, almost a week,” said Setiawan.
According to him, from information received by residents, the temporary waste collection site was no longer accepting waste because it was too full.As a result, rubbish is just left on the side of the road.
Meanwhile, the Cipeucang Final Disposal Site (TPA) is not being used temporarily.
“The information says that the Cipeucang TPA is not allowed to dispose of rubbish, previously Jalan Aria Putra was closed, the rubbish bins at the market were also closed, so they piled up here,” said Setiawan.
Another resident, Acep, said that the rubbish that had piled up mostly came from traders who produced a lot of rubbish every day. This is coupled with residents throwing rubbish carelessly.
According to him, this rubbish is very disturbing.
“Especially when it rains like this, the smell gets worse,” said Acep.
He said that previously there were officers on guard to ensure that no one littered. However, in recent days it has not been seen again.
“There are also many people who ride motorbikes dumping there,” he said.
Residents hope that this problem will be handled immediately in order to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
The Mayor of South Tangerang opened his voice
The Mayor of South Tangerang, Benyamin Davnie, said that the waste was not being picked up because the Cipeucang landfill, Serpong, was under repair.
“The Cipeucang TPA is currently being reorganized and repaired by terracing and dewatering, so it is disrupting the transportation of waste,” said Benyamin when contacted, Friday (12/12).
Terracing is the rearrangement of the slopes of waste piles to make them look like stairs.Meanwhile, dewatering reduces the water content in mountains of waste.
Benyamin targets that the repairs will be completed by the end of December.
Benyamin also acknowledged the limited capacity of the Cipeucang landfill.According to him, the landfill can only accommodate waste for the next few months.
“It can still accommodate waste from South Tangerang, but it can’t last long, only for a few months or maybe a month,” he said.
In the long term, Benyamin said that one of the waste management facilities that would be built is a PSEL waste processing facility into electrical energy.
“I have determined the winner of the international auction for PSEL, the consortium has been completed. Then secondly, I have built cooperation with Tangerang Regency, Pandeglang Regency or with West Java Province in Cibinong like that for waste disposal,” said Benjamin.
