Malut United star, Ciro Alves has officially applied for naturalization to become an Indonesian citizen (WNI).
This was known from an upload on the Instagram account of the North Maluku Ministry of Law Regional Office, Tuesday (9/12).Ciro was accompanied by Malut United assistant manager, Asghar Saleh.
The consultation process for the 36 year old player to become an Indonesian citizen was carried out at the Regional Office of the North Sulawesi Ministry of Law and was received directly by Regional Head Budi Argap Situngkir.

“With experience since 2019 playing in Indonesia and his contribution to North Maluku football, Ciro stated his readiness to fulfill all the requirements in accordance with Law 12 of 2006, including renouncing his previous citizenship,” read a statement from the Regional Office of the North Maluku Ministry of Law on his Instagram account, Tuesday (9/12).
“Hopefully the naturalization process will run smoothly and bring benefits to Indonesian football.”
On the same occasion, Malut United Assistant Manager, Asghar Saleh, stated that the club fully supports Ciro’s desire to become an Indonesian citizen.
Apart from administrative reasons, Asghar believes that Ciro has qualities and experience that can have a positive impact on the development of Indonesian football.
“Ciro has lived in Indonesia since 2019 and has great talent. He can play a role in improving the Indonesian football ecosystem, especially in North Maluku,” said Asghar.
