alias Gus Yahya claims that he still serves as General Chair (Ketum) of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (
PBNU
).
He emphasized this in response to the plenary meeting held by Syuriah PBNU which determined the removal of Gus Yahya and appointed KH Zulfha Mustofa as Acting Chairman of PBNU on Tuesday (9/12) last night.
Yahya said he would hold a plenary meeting on Thursday (11/12).

“We will talk tomorrow [Thursday], we will hold a plenary session to talk about the programs that will be our tasks, including evaluating a number of programs that are currently running,” said Gus Yahya after an audience with the National Police Reform Acceleration Committee at the State Secretariat Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/12).
Apart from that, Gus Yahya said that the plenary meeting would specifically discuss NU’s consolidation steps and contribution in dealing with the disaster that was hitting a number of areas on the island of Sumatra.
Until now, Gus Yahya has stated that Zulfa’s appointment as Acting Ketum is invalid.He emphasized that his position as Ketum could only be replaced through the Congress mechanism.
Even so, he admitted that he was open if Zulfa wanted to meet him.
He also admitted that he had invited Zulfa to the plenary meeting tomorrow.However, not in his position as Acting Ketum.
Zulfa himself, under Gus Yahya’s management, is one of the Deputy Chairmen of PBNU.
“We’ll invite you tomorrow,” he said.
Recently PBNU has been hit by internal conflict.It all started after Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar recommended Gus Yahya resign from the position of general chairman.
This decision was the result of the PBNU’s daily Syuriyah meeting at the Aston Hotel, Jakarta, on Thursday 20 November.At the meeting, 37 members of the 53 Syuriyah PBNU daily administrators were present.
Most recently, Syuriyah PBNU held a plenary meeting at the Sultan Hotel in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/12) evening.The meeting was chaired by Rais Syuriyah PBNU Muhammad Nuh on the mandate of Rais Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar.
The plenary decided Zulfa Mustofa as Acting General Chair of PBNU for the remaining term of office until the 2026 Congress.
“The appointment of the Acting General Chairperson of PBNU for the remaining term of service, namely Mr. KH Zulfa Mustofa,” said Rais Syuriah Muhammad Nuh in a press conference after the plenary meeting at the Sultan Hotel.
The plenary was also attended by a number of kiai such as Deputy Rais Aam KH Afifuddin Muhajir and KH Anwar Iskandar, Nasaruddin Umar, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and Gus Ipul.
