Fabio Grosso hinted at the Indonesian national team players,
Jay Idzes
, is irreplaceable in the center back position
Sassuolo
.
Jay only arrived at the start of this season after being recruited from Venice.Grosso was impressed by the performance of the Dutch-born player.
Jay is one of the players who has almost always played this season.Of the 11 matches that have taken place, the 25 year old player has defended I Neroverdi 10 times and recorded 900 minutes of playing.

That number of games and minutes played shows Jay’s important position. There are only eight players who have played 10 times or more and three players with 900 minutes played or more.
In a press conference ahead of Sassuolo’s match against Pisa which will take place early Tuesday (25/11) Indonesian time, Grosso even changed the position of two players whose original positions were central defenders.
“There are many dynamics that determine the formation we will use, but I always try not to create new things because simplicity is the most effective,” said Grosso as quoted by Sassuolo News when opening his answer regarding the placement of Fali Cande, who was previously a central defender to become a defender on the edge.
“Because we lost several defenders, and several players who can play more centrally, such as [Sebastian] Walukiewicz and Cande, we decided to try them playing on the wings. These are two situations that we can imitate, just as we have two wing-backs who are quality and have attacking potential,” said the former Italian national team player.
However, Grosso still views the importance of players who have changed positions.
Thus, the players retained in Sassuolo’s central defender position are Jay, Tarik Muharemovic and Cas Odenthal.Meanwhile, Filippo Romagna is still recovering after suffering an injury.
