“Yes, our target is before the recess period ends. Because if we recess it will be next year. Even though the Criminal Code takes effect on January 2. So, we are targeting this,” said Soedeson at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Thursday (20/11).
Meanwhile, three other bills that will be a priority in 2026 are the National Police Bill, the Prosecutor’s Bill and the Supreme Court Bill.
According to Soedeson, the three bills must be immediately adapted to the newly passed KUHAP.
“Because it has to adapt to the Criminal Procedure Code,” he said.
Wait for orders for the Asset Confiscation Bill
Meanwhile, specifically for the Asset Confiscation Bill, Soedeson admitted that his party would only wait for orders.
However, he believes that asset confiscation will also be discussed because it has become a pressure from the public and the president.
“Well, the DPR leadership has promised that we will wait for the KUHAP. Well, now the KUHAP is there. We at Commission III are waiting,” he said.
“And that is the order of the President and the Speaker of the DPR. So that is our priority,” he added.
