Muhaimin Iskandar
said the government was writing off arrears
BPJS Health contributions
for 23 million participants starting at the end of 2025.
According to the minister who is familiarly called Cak Imin, the plan is for this program to start at the end of 2025. The hope is that in the future this policy can increase active participation in BPJS Health, which currently covers 279.7 million beneficiaries.

According to him, this step is the government’s effort to ensure access to health for all Indonesian people and increase participation in the National Health Insurance Program (JKN).
Thus, he said, in the future there will no longer be people, especially poor people, who will lose their rights to health services due to JKN arrears.
According to him, this concrete step is also in accordance with the mandate of Article 28 H paragraph 1 of the 1945 Constitution which states that everyone has the right to receive health services.
“There are 23 million BPJS Health participants who are still in arrears. In the near future, God willing, these arrears will be cleared and removed,” said Cak Imin in an official statement, Wednesday (5/11).
“(Removing contributions) means that all BPJS Health participants who are still in arrears immediately re-register and re-register to become active BPJS participants,” he added.
At the same time, he said, the government will also enforce BPJS Health membership compliance rules. One of them is by promoting Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2022 concerning Optimizing the Implementation of the National Health Insurance Program to continue to build the spirit of mutual cooperation in this program.
“On the other hand, as a spirit of mutual cooperation, those who are able to pay contributions must also be in solidarity to continue to help the growth and development of BPJS Health. Those who cannot afford to be helped with contributions, those who are able must be part of our spirit of mutual cooperation,” he said.
