The fourth matchday of the Champions League was marked by controversy at Anfield Stadium, Wednesday (4/11) early morning WIB.
Liverpool narrowly won 1-0 over Madrid in the home match.The only goal was scored by Alexis Mac Allister in the 61st minute.
The victory was Liverpool’s second in the Champions League this season.Meanwhile for Madrid, it was the first defeat in four matches.

However, the Reds’ victory was marred by controversy after the hosts failed to get a penalty in the 45th minute.
The controversial drama started with Dominik Szoboszlai’s long-range kick which hit Aurelien Tchouameni’s right hand.
However, referee Istvan Kovacs assessed that the incident only resulted in a free kick.VAR then asked Kovacs to review the replay on the screen at the side of the pitch.
However, after seeing the monitor, Kovacs changed his decision by not awarding a free kick or penalty.The ball that hit Tchouameni’s hand was not considered a handball violation.

, UEFA provided a statement regarding the incident.According to European football’s governing body, there was no penalty awarded to Liverpool.
“VAR decision: no penalty. The ball touched the left arm of Real Madrid player number 14, which was close to the body in a natural position,” read a VAR statement.
Meanwhile, former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg was furious with Kovacs’ decision not to award Liverpool a penalty.
“It was good to get a second chance to see it. I think the referee, from his point of view, thought the ball was outside, but from this side view, which the assistant referee has, it looks like the arm was inside the penalty box when the ball hit the target,” said Clattenburg.
“When that happens, VAR will recommend a review. I think the referee might change his mind,” Clattenburg added.
