in three provinces of Sumatra–Aceh, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), and West Sumatra (Sumbar).
“We will assign the deputies related to this, whether Supervision Coordination or perhaps Prevention, to work together to ensure that irregularities do not happen again regarding aid, yes, donations from the community,” said Setyo after the ‘Launching and Workshop e-Learning Integrity Ranger’ agenda in the Sultan Agung Room of the Vredeburg Museum, Yogyakarta, Monday (8/12).

Setyo understands that the door to abusing the budget is wide open. For this reason, he said, the KPK will try to close these spaces to prevent corruption.
“Because this is a lot, the problem is that there are many doors, all parties can make donations. Some are done directly, some are done through predetermined institutions,” said Setyo.
“This is one of our thoughts and efforts to support what the government has done in order to ensure that the process of distributing aid is in accordance with its intended purpose,” continued the man who was previously known as a three-star general at the National Police.
Ecological disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra claimed many lives and badly damaged many facilities. The Indonesian government has not yet declared national disaster status.
Previously, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and his subordinates had held a disaster coordination meeting at the Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Base Integrated Command Post, Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh Province, Sunday (7/12) evening.
A number of decisions were taken at the meeting in question.Including regarding access to assistance and discussing temporary housing for affected victims.
Alleged corruption behind the logging of Sumatran forests
Previously, at the end of last week, Setyo admitted that his party had no plans to take part in investigating the criminal aspects behind the logging or logging of forests which was allegedly not in accordance with regulations and triggered the Sumatran disaster.
“Right now, the most important thing the government is doing is carrying out rescue work, carrying out rehabilitation, reconstruction of events that are currently happening. That is the most priority,” said Setyo at the Hakordia 2025 event at Zero Kilometer, Yogyakarta City, DIY, Saturday (6/11) evening.
Setyo claims, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) also pays attention to preventing ecological disasters through partnerships between the Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring with the Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and so on.
Through this partnership, various studies have been carried out to improve governance, licensing and all matters related to the responsibilities of each ministry.
“And we also have an activity called management of natural resources, this is a movement that we carry out in order to anticipate abuse and irregularities related to natural resources,” said Setyo.
“But once again, because there are ministerial authorities, we will also return it so that the ministries can also carry out improvements, carry out control over what is their respective authority,” he continued.
The Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut) found at least five forest logging locations that did not comply with regulations. The five are suspected to have triggered flash floods and sporadic landslides in Sumatra at the end of last November.
The Ministry of Forestry said the discovery of logs carried by currents indicated suspicions of land clearing and logging activities that did not comply with regulations.
Apart from that, they found that there were 12 legal subjects ranging from corporations and individuals who were suspected of being related to forest cover disturbances in upstream areas.
Meanwhile, the Directorate for Certain Crimes, Bareskrim Polri, has formed a team and has begun carrying out investigations regarding the discovery of logs that were swept away by the Sumatran floods.
